Description
This is a Earlier model PENN Senator 117L(14/0) with the Chrome Over “Brass SPOOL". Unlike the 14/0 reels being sold currently with the BLACK Painted ALUMINUM SPOOLS which tend to corrode and pit. Chrome will Peel off but, spool will not corrode. Penn probably switched to aluminum spools to reduce cost. The CHROME SPOOLS models are probably the most sought after Senators, by fisherman that intend to fish for more than just recreation.... Reel has been in storage(2002) for the pass few years wouldn't hurt to get it cleaned and relubed. Reel had been purchased back in the earlier 1980’s… This reel has trolled the waters of the PACIFIC OCEAN (Surrounding waters of GUAM). This reel has been used for its intended purpose (Hauling In Yellow Fin, Marlin, Wahoo etc...)… So with this said, there is obvious wear on reel, particularly on spool, frame posts and reel stand. Cosmetics Rating: "6" Scale of 1-10(10 being NEW).. All chrome parts (Reel Stand, Frame Posts, Chrome Rings Spool etc) show peeling of chrome... Side plates show SUN BURN (Gloss no longer visible). Reel Stand and Chrome Rings are “BENT” or "Dented" from rough handling. However, in no way does its cosmetic blemishes affect the actual operation of this excellent America made Product... Operational assessment: Fully Operational (With proper Care and Maintenance,,,,,This reel can be past on to Generations to come..). Clicker is loud,,, Free Spool Lever "Engages and Disengages",,,Clutch appears to be operating properly (My test, tighten Drag and PULL line off spool..) This item is “USED” and in being sold "AS-IS". Private mail carriers (FEDEX, UPS, DHL etc) out of GUAM extremely expensive.. I will not to use these mail carriers (Pain on the behind getting to their offices...)
