There is no better reel for Salmon (or other fish that requires a single action reel) and is the reel of choice for Guides and West-Coast mooching and downrigger fishermen (and ladies!). And best of all, it is Gold! I bought this reel at the beginning of the season (from Tyee Marine in Campbell River, not another fisherman!) in June and used it less than 6 times! I back the drag off and flush it with water after every fishing trip. I then take the spool off to make sure the the water dries out properly! As you can tell I am a little anal with my fishing gear, but I know it is perfect for the next trip. There are a small series of tiny scratches at the bottom and a couple on the back of the reel where I set it down to net a Salmon. This is the only thing that stops the reel being totally mint. You can just see them in the photo but it makes them stand out more than they do in real life. For those who have a sharp eye know that a newer reel comes with a black neoprene case, it did, but Islander now sources the case overseas, which are crap! So I managed to horse trade with a Guide for one of the older, thicker, better cases and put new velco on. The reel has 30lb test loaded onto 350yds of backing.
