Description
HARDY PALL MALL CENTENARY 1892-1992 LIMITED. Very reluctantly I am forced to sell part of my private collection.  As you will appreciate this is a very special item and I can  only accept on this item the following: Personal cheques, Money orders, Cashier's cheques, and Certfied cheques only. Please note that I have other top of the range fly fishing listings on Ebay that I’m selling.     Hardy Pall Mall 1892-1992 limited edition Rod and reel set, only 100 sets made world-wide. An exclusive now rare Boxed Set contains hand- crafted original editions first produced in the early 1890- the 8 ft Gold Medal split bamboo rod and one of the very first all brass, caged Perfect reels, the 2.5/8” Houghton- each individually numbered. The rod and reel are presented in a superb quality solid, hand made, rectangular rosewood chest with brass press studs locks and a blue velvet and baize lined fitted interior complete with an outer blue canvas sleeve for the box with an inlaid brass Centenary plaque. Complete with partitioned rod bag, and reel bag. Set Number: 72/100. In a New-Mint-Unused Condition, complete with all brochures, instuctions on care and maintenance, original invoice, and its oringnal, heavy, hard, cardboard, foam lined packing box for safe, secure, transit shipping. This set in 1992 cost a couple of Thosand Pounds, and a very reluctant sale, and now rare. THE ROD. The 8 ft Gold Medal is a 3 piece rod with 2 tops. The Gold Medal rods were introduced after the Great Fisheries Exhibition in London in 1883/4, at which Hardy Brothers was awarded the Gold Medal for split bamboo rods. The original specifications followed faithfully with hexagonal sections. Bronzed brass butt cap, brass suction splint end joints with tenons, original agate butt ring, bronzed intermediate snake rings, wood button and stoppers, crimson silk tyings with narrow band intermediates. Modern glues and cork shives have been used in place of the less effective animal glues and cork sheet. THE REEL. The 2.5/8” Perfect-known as the ‘Houghton’ Dry Fly Reel is one of the first all brass, caged Perfects from the 1890s This Perfect reel has an all brass frame, drum and revolving plate, fully integrated pillars, the early check” mechanism and a left-hand threaded centre locking screw. It features a perforated smooth brass reel back, brass ball bearings (13 balls in each ball race), rim regulator with guard, large and small line drum flange perforations and an ivorine handle. The inside of the frame is stamped with initials HN, 1992 and the serial number. The three original stamps on the reel- the straight line Hardy Perfect logo, the bordered oval logo and the “rod in hand” trademark-are in exact detail complete with centenary drawstring reel bag supplied. You will not see this item in a New/Unused condition for quite a while, especially in this 1992 superb hand made quality, an investment better than having your money in the Bank, and family heirlooms for generations.
