For the hook we start with 5/8 diameter 304 Stainless steel and grind the tri bevel point needle sharp point, then TIG weld the barb and rope eye in a fixture. It is then wire brushed and rough polished then finish buffed to a bright shine. The 2 step buffing improves the corrosion resistance of the Stainless steel and enhances the overall beauty of the metal. We then attach 3 ft of vinyl coated SS cable that is crimped and heat shrinked then 18 ft of Black "New England Rope co. 3/8ths  nylon rope is spliced on and heat shrinked with an eye spliced on the tag end. DART AND IRON The dart is investment cast  Stainless Steel sharpened to a razor point with 6 ft of vinyl coated SS cable attached .The iron is 3/8ths diameter 22 inches long with 6 inches of 5/8th SS rod for extra weight that can be secured into flying gaff handle . The iron is highly polished for extra corrosion resistance.   The STAINLESS STEEL HANDLE The handle is made from 1inch diameter 304 Stainless Steel 6' long with a .052 wall thickness. The handle is drilled and counter sunk, then polished to a mirror finish.   This tool is medium weight and very strong. With a little more weight this gives more force when harpooning and less flex when gaffing.   The RECEIVER and END CAP The Receiver and end cap are made from Delrin which is a very dense, and strong acetel plastic. The receiver has a locating slot for the flying gaff hook to slide into to keep the hook from rotating. There is a 1/4 “ thumb screw threaded into it to apply force for the proper amount of resistance for hook set. The 5/8 diameter socket is precision reamed for a proper fit and will receive all of the additional tools made by us, such as Harpoon Iron, Tuna Swimming Hook, Tail Roper, De-Hooker .   The end cap with lanyard is pressed and glued and screwed  into the end of the handle.   FOAM GRIPS We have upgraded our grips to high density EVA FOAM Pre-cut and molded for better grip, looks and added floatation. Grips are then glued into place.   This tool is medium heavy weight and very strong .
